F.A.Q.s

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo technique, in which pigment is scratched into the skin, in fine, feather-like strokes, using a handheld tool with a blade made of several tiny needles. The strokes are created to resemble natural brow hairs, in order to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows, or to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading is a softer/more subtle cosmetic tattoo than some other methods. While ink is used for body tattoos, cosmetic tattoo procedures utilize pigments. These pigments are designed to fade over time. Fading is desired, as it allows the artist to make changes to color and/or shape over the years, as a client's natural coloration and facial changes occur.

HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?

The average duration of the initial appointment is 3 – 3 ½ hours. During your appointment, I will consult with you the entire time, to ensure that we are on the same page. About half of the appointment time is spent measuring/mapping/drawing a desired set of brows, based on the client’s facial structure and features.  The remaining time is spent on the actual procedure. The perfection session takes about an 1 ½ - 2 hours, on average.

IS THE FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT (PERFECTION SESSION) INCLUDED IN THE COST?

Yes! To ensure the brows heal correctly/ideally, a minimum of two treatments is required. This ensures the opportunity to correct/fill in any areas that may not have had great retention. Unless requested otherwise, during the first procedure, I focus mostly on the shape and color, where the second, I do touch ups and details. Think of it as a cake. The first session is for baking the cake, the second session is decorating and perfecting.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

Microblading is semi-permanent and will fade over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1-2 years to maintain shape, color, and detail. This often depends on several factors, including skin type, pigment color (lighter colors fade faster), sun exposure (causes fading and discoloration of the pigment), and use of daily anti-aging products (increases your cell turnover rate, and shortens the life of your cosmetic tattoo).

DOES IT HURT?

I do all that I can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. Before the blading begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel slight discomfort, but it's relatively pain-free for most part. (PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, or if you schedule your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level may be more intense.)

Pregnant Woman

CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT?

As a precautionary measure, and to avoid any complications, I do NOT perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women.

WHAT SHOULD I DO PRIOR TO MY EYEBROW PROCEDURE?

DO NOT have your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded, or tinted for at least three days prior to your appointment.

If you fill in your eyebrows, please arrive to your appointment with your eyebrows filled in as you normally would so I may take your preferences into consideration.

If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, please bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.

If you use Accutane, you must wait at least one year of no use before considering having your eyebrows microbladed.

If you regularly get Botox/filler, please schedule your brow appointment the week before receiving any injections. If you receive Botox/filler before microblading, we will need to create your brows specifically based on your Botox/filler features. PLEASE NOTE this step can greatly affect the way your brow placement settles once your Botox/filler begins to wear off.

Avoid direct sun exposure/tanning for two weeks before and after your procedure.

Avoid chemical peels for at least four weeks prior to your appointment.

DO NOT arrive to your appointment with a sunburn. If you have a sunburn near the time of your appointment, please email me at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and any blood-thinning medication at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
